Here, I'll assist. The slide didn't exist in isolation, there was audio with it. And what did the audio say combjelly? Do tell. Answer: nothing whatsoever about the Bulldozer arrow (if you don't believe me you can go back for yourself and listen to the 2009 analyst day webcasts as I did). So, getting back to the important question:why have this arrow there at all? And more importantly, why isn't it aligned with the products that are Bulldozer based? Answer: it represents the target for production wafer starts. AMD promised Bulldozer production in 2010, with an early 2011 launch. Here, I'll let an AMD spokesman explicitly verify this for you:09/25/2009 “On our side, there is no change to the 32nm roadmap or plans we communicated at our financial analyst event last November. At that point, we said we expected to enter 32nm production in the second half of 2010 and introduce products to market in early 2011. No changes on our end. We are executing to our roadmaps […] AMD will enter production in 2H 2010 with products out in market in early 2011 ,” said Michael Silverman, a spokesperson for AMD. xbitlabs.com Note the date of this article is 6 months after the first Bulldozer slip was announced, and just over a month before the 2009 analyst day where they presented the slide with the picture in contention. For anyone familiar with the industry, it's quite clear what the arrow represents and why it's aligned the way it is. So now, going waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to the start of this argument (quotes are Elmer's words, plain italics are yours):"So it's no longer early 2011 or mid 2011. Just 2011..." It has always been 'just' 2011. Why are you pretending it has been different? Message 26773280 As I showed you above, Bulldozer based parts were publicly promised by AMD for production ramp in 2010 and intro in early 2011. But Tuesday, in his closing statements at the analyst day conference, Dirk stated* that Bulldozer production was slated for "summertime" 2011. Server parts won't be on the market until 2H 2011. Even Llano won't start production until Q2. So they slipped ~6 months (without calling any of it a slip, of course). Maybe this can be put to rest? -=spaark=- * Analyst day webcast , select the second Dirk entry from the dropdown once you've started the webcast.
