I understand but before there were jobs, there were people moving to FLA because they wanted to be in the sun and surf. That in migration stopped when the national economy fell apart.

It actually started to fall apart in the housing boom... young people just couldn't afford to live here. Florida always had the reputation as a low wage low cost of living state, but it became a low wage high cost of living state.

Florida is weird. For years my house appreciated 1-2% a year; too much new construction. Then the boom and it went up over 100% in a couple of years. Now back to a little above the pre-boom period.
