Has anyone ever told you that the ugly, sarcastic tone you use in your posts makes some people stop reading? If you want your opinions to be heard by those who might differ from you, you might consider speaking in a congenial manner. Like say in a classroom discussion of differing opinions. That way you'll be taken seriously. The other way you look like a dolt who thinks his sarcasm is witty.

You certainly make numerous assumptions regarding my position and understanding of income taxes.

I commented that basically lower income people get a better return on investment in SSI than rich people.

No doubt we are both aggravated that the top 1-3% of the country apparently own the government ruling class. How else would you end up with tax rates where this group with massive wealth can continue to steer the government in their favor? And at the expense of the people who are doing all the producing in this country.

You must not have noticed I commented I had no problem taxing the $250K and above group more.

I just dont think income is the real issue with the government. The real issue is spending, spending on social programs that the liberals think the rich will have to pay for. In the end the people doing most of the producing and tax paying will be paying more, more of their time and sacrifice will be transfered to others. Many of these others who could do a much better job of providing for themselves.

The important metric is the “EFFECTIVE tax rate” on ALL income and the most recent statistics are that the "Ultra Rich" have an EFFECTIVE tax rate around 16-18%

Not according to CBOE. (although tax rates for the top 1% have declined from the mid 90s and the late 70s..from around 37% to 31%..) And this is only taking into account all Federal taxes and not state and local taxes. (Although I would agree that you are very wealthy you are paying a lower percentage of your income to property or sales taxes than the middle class..)
