Interesting... and I agree to a large extent.. that energy policy should be seriously addressed now... it is in reality very far from too late.. the glut and possibilities of NG in the US and Canada to a lesser degree (and likely much of the world) could change that oil imbalance.. now that same technology is being loosed upon oil.. but will it just be used up and an opportunity missed.. Of course a little less military would also go a long way... so many ways for the US to right itself... if it only opened its eyes... The Titanic metaphor was very good..

A discerning ear will find, and note, the contradictions within the framework of this more complete presentation, than the simple analogy letter you posted.
