Lane, I think the uninsured figure is one that has been tossed around quite a bit over the last couple years that has little basis in fact, so it wouldn't be surprising to find some erroneous figures.

Commonly, Medicaids are considered to be "uninsured" in an effort to boost the uninsured count for political purposes. But then when you're trying to create a breakdown by category like this they end up being counted as Medicaids, too, I guess.

I assume that the low proportion in the chart is in part the fact that 20% of Medicare eligibles are also Medicaid eligible.

Could be. There are quite a few Medicare/Medicaids out there.
