I gather you speak from experience. My wife is also the oldest. So we have something of a family lore about it.

In my own case, it's complicated by several other family factors. Best not left out on a public forum like this one.

My computer science friends tell me, those who help me moderate a community listserv, that most members of their own, even professional listservs, have no idea that their little rants live on in internet eternity.

So I'm reticent. Well, now that's a funny, given how my fingers are typed down to the proverbial bone this morning. ;-0

And, if they are really really lucky, they will fight for something for a year or so, only to have the father turn to the next kid and say, "OK. Do you want ...,too?"
