Aren't you conflating healthcare with health insurance? I do that sometimes but not in the post to which you are replying. Because we still have a long way to go to correct the healthcare and the healthcare insurance in this country, longevity rates very more than is acceptable between demographic/stratified groups. If you don't have access to insurance, you don't get checkups, you don't get treatment, and so on. As for your experience without health insurance, bless you. My guess is you are talking about an age phenomenon, not a generational one, or, better put, both. As I reached my forties, I discovered my parents all twisted up about healthcare insurance, sort of the way I'm getting now.
