I finished the Ptolemies. I liked it. I have read quite a bit about Alexander, and I teach the play Julius Caesar, so I enjoyed the book. I don't know if it would be enjoyable if you didn't know a lot about the period- and you'd have to be ok with the God "Thoth" berating you (yes YOU, ignorant reader)- but I didn't mind that device. I found it kind of cute.
