TOKYO (Nikkei)-The Ministry of Finance plans to reduce
to 15-20 the number of Japanese banks subject to
separate capital adequacy ratio guidelines set by the Bank
for International Settlements, down from around the 40
initially planned, ministry sources said Monday. Banks
aiming to operate overseas must meet the standards.
