USA thwarts Iran's MiG ambition
The US government has bought 21 MiG-29 fighters and over 500 air-to-air missiles from Moldova for $40 million to keep the weapons out of Iranian hands. The former Soviet Navy aircraft were transferred to the USA by C-17 airlifter.

For our fighter pilots this may not be bad. Since IRAQ never supplied any competition our pilots can at least use the MiG's to play fight amongst themselves. I think this is a bargain at $40 mil, but it does make me wonder if Moldova is selling missiles and warplanes this cheap, who all has some of these weapons?
