I used it because it's one of the main variables that go in to derive state educational rankings. That's all.

I'm actually more shocked at how lacking college grads are. I've known several people with top tier, even Ivy League educations, who lacked skills in logic and debate. They also made decisions more based on emotion that I would have expected.

Whatever awe I might have felt for big name degrees vanished after this. I've even known people who were so deficient (to my way of thinking, anyway...ha) that I wondered if they were lying about where they went to college.
