Just so we keep matters clear. The contemporary religious picture vis a vis homosexuality is not universally negative. Several Protestant denominations are favorable, including an Episcopal bishop. Ditto if you look backward to some other religions which had more favorable views of homosexuality than others. As for interpretations of the bible, no one, absolutely no one, accepts it as literal truth. They pick and choose. And the criteria by which they pick and choose is where their notion of a religion lies. You may recall the several lengthy posts here which detailed the really absurd practices that would have to be acted upon if folk really believed the bible was the word of god. Definitely not.
