Andy, they can get the number of shares in 'name' at the TA, but I believe your correct in regards to the number of 'street' shares, that is, 'street' name shares can only be retrieved through the DTC which is expensive.

the DTC charges a fairly expensive fee to tell the company how many shares are in street vs name.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but thought I'd seen somewhere that it costs $1500.00. Given the current circumstances, seems a fairly inexpensive price for the company. Hope they will do this.
