usa, with its 200 years short story, will likely learn wisdom

That's like saying "China, with it's 50 year history.. blah, blah, blah.. ".. And much of China's historical sense, it's values and ideals, have been systematically crushed beneath the oppression of Maoist ideology. Only in the past 10-20 years has that history been given a re-birth (but only so long as it doesn't challenge Maoist pre-eminence).

The history of the US goes back thousands of years, not just a mere 200..

The philosophy and values that led to it's founding, especially with regard to individual rights, and it's political system, come from biblical times, through Greek and Roman history, the Renaissance, industrialization.. etc, etc..

With regard to the development of individual rights, most of the world takes their lead from the US.

And without the individual, and the choices they are permitted to make of their own volition, you cannot have a truly sustainable economy.

THAT is the wisdom that Bejing is about to learn. That the strength of a nation is the sum total of the values that it's PEOPLE hold dear, not a few self-appointed leaders clawing to hold to power.
