FB is great for socializing but doesn't offer anything for those seeking precise, well-organized information or thoughtful discussions about such things. Most young folks don't have a need for that because their assets and responsibilities are limited. FB gives them what they want, a nice place to play. The regulars on SI are here mostly to work, with the socializing and fun a perk on the side.
