I'm sure that there is no doubt that the BIG INCREASES in America's national deficits which were piled-up under Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II were for the simplest of reasons: They continued to SPEND MORE then the government took in in revenue... and they made up the difference by BORROWING (and, as you suggested, piling borrowing on ever more borrowing means interest costs soon start climbing too....)
