Last night watching Bush on Hannity's show, I was struck by the contrast between a great president and an incompetent one.

Bush talked about how much he loves the military and pointed to a young vet who lost his legs in Iraq and said he was inspired by his sacrifice and knew he had to do everything possible to do right by him. The audience cheered - so did I.

He talked about the fire chief who he stood with at GZ and pledged to "get" those responsible, that his first priority was to protect American lives - the audience cheered - me too.

He got all teary-eyed when Hannity read a couple of letters between 41 and 43. He said he felt the weight of the world on him.

You could hear the whole world cheering for him. It was one of those rare moments when you get to witness greatness. You could feel the love.

Then I thought about what must have been going on at the White House as the staffers watched the program and how incensed they must have been that Bush was stealing the show, stealing all the thunder, making the contrast really stand out.

Here's Bush going around the country, getting on EVERY show - all the MSM and cable shows. People showing up by the thousands to see and cheer him, buy his book. And he gets to talk about how great he is and nobody is challenging him. All the hosts are being extra polite to him.

Meanwhile Michael Moore is basically calling him a dipshit. SNL is making fun of him and complimenting Beck. The 2 biggest democratic pollsters are suggesting it's time for him to throw in the towel - he can't get reelected.

Schadenfreude.
