Urbanization at fast pace. Take the guy from planting rice to a state of the art factory and the guy goes bananas. If you take a man from an environment and try to move him to up another era he cannot survive. It happened 500 years ago with the Indians when the Spanish tried to make them work in mines and the Portuguese tried to make the Brazilian Indians work in Agriculture. Starting late 60s, Brazil used TV soap operas to prepare the rural people for the realities of modern life. They see soap opera. People live in dwellings. They do not shit behind the banana trees, They have something called toilets (WCs for you US people). They see people with all those niceties and they have only one or two kids.
