***Off Topic***Shorting DELL and CPQ. I was trying to extend your basic idea on the sub-$1000 PC from DELL (who is trying to stay out of that maket) to CPQ (who has been jumping into that market with both feet).
Also, I wasn't thinking with your precision about specific earnings report dates as the trigger for price movement.

I still have a lot to learn (sometimes I wonder if I've learned anything after all these years, except that I'm still wandering around in the dark).

Your points are well made.

But what I'm thinking is, in a tech downturn like we've been having, and after the price runups DELL and CPQ have had this year, they could easily drop further in price, no matter what earnings they report, no matter how great the companies are on fundamentals, and even though they are no longer at their highs.

But I will definitely rethink my current position on DELL, and especially on CPQ.

Larry

I just wish you had twisted my arm a few days ago to short CKS Group.

But thanks for your thoughts. I haven't checked the prices on DELL and CPQ yet, and I realize they are very volatile. Which is why I went short instead of using puts. I didn't want to pay for the time premium on the puts. But that could be penny wise and dollar foolish (hindsight is usually more clear than foresight).

I think I should take some time off and get my thoughts organized a bit better.

Maybe my writing would improve, even if it doesn't do much for my investing.
