Addi, the reason for the "idiotic selling" as you call it is that the tech stocks are too high. If you sell at a profit you're not an idiot by any definition. If you hold onto your stocks too long and continue buying on the dips only to see your stock dip even more...then who is the idiot? Present company accepted of course. I think you are a very educated, highly competent technician and developer. But that doesn't mean you are necessarily a wise investor or trader. Regards, Harry.

Addi,

To be sure, the sell off in the high techs, which has been going
on for days now, is simply an opportunity for specialists and their
institutional clients to collect these stocks cheaply. One day soon,
when they feel as though they have enough in their inventories, all
of these stocks will take off like rockets again. What other segment
of the markets can lead the way higher? They will suddenly have all
of these bargains that investors will gladly buy at lower prices. When the number of buyers dries up and/or the prices become too high,
you'll get another sell off, but be sure of one thing, long term the
way is UP. With JAVA in the wings, a whole new world of markets will
soon be up for sale to the highest bidder! This is why Java will not
fail!

<<My overall portfolio value has gone down by about 30% since 3-4
weeks ago. >>
Mine is down about 20%, but I'm probably only 60% in high tech, though a few weeks ago, it was 75% i.e before the price decrease in my high tech stocks. Actually, I'm probably down less on SUNW than my other tech stocks.
BTW, I wasn't being serious about the reason for the downward movement, though recently, no matter what the news the direction is down for high tech.
Hang in there, we're not going back to the middle ages any time soon.
High tech will rebound eventually, but who knows when?
