For the quarter ended July 30, the loss was $146 million, or $1.37 a share, compared with $39 million, or 35 cents, in the year-earlier period. The adjusted losses per share were $1.13 against 19 cents. Shares outstanding fell 5.2% to 106.8 million. Revenue declined to $10.33 billion from $10.46 billion. Comparable-store sales fell 0.7% in the U.S. and 4.8% in Canada. The quarter reflected $48 million of costs to close and convert stores and reduce staffing, Sears said.
