One that has worked beautifully was AIXG's Aixtron's merger/purchase of GGNS Genus.

That one was off the top of my head and I'm sure there are others.

Message 21125514

I'm told by reorg dept at my broker that merger becomes effective Monday. AIXGV now trading ~ $4.88, so GGNS @ 0.51 shares are worth $2.49 today.
Message 21125415

AIXG now trading around $33.50

Hi cluka,

My fav stock has gone to the Phillipines and Singapore for the forward outsourcing of all new generation equipment.

Our government just does not get it.

The IC industry is perhaps the most efficient and goes where labor and capital are treated best.

Knowing that they legislate more costs onto manufacturers and when they get in profit troubles - they favor the unions.

In their hearts - I think they'd prefer to stay in the USA.

To be viable into the future they must goe with the flow of the leanest manufacturer and preserve margins.

I'm hopeful our government has swung the other way.

We must embrace our manufacturing/industry - not assign social costs on top of it.

There should be some good changes evolve over the next 2-6 years.

Repatriation of capital can ocur with a tx holiday and the signing of a law.

It will happen - it just needs to be prioritized.

I too am not comfortable with the concept - but our government must be supportive not attcking.

I hope I see that change ocurring.

Bob

"What was the last merger of 2 equipment companies that worked out well?"

LRCX and SEZ. Just about complete with write-offs now.

Another merger that has worked well for me by owning the larger company that kept its name is Optium and Finisar.
