Sure.

The actual historical record is one of both parties contributing to it, and the blame properly widely spread, with the issue not primarily a partisan one; but with most of the debt being accumulated during times when Democrats controlled congress, and with the largest deficits (as a percent of GDP) happening with Democrats in the Oval Office, and with the most fiscally unsound programs, the entitlement programs, mostly coming from times when the Democrats where in charge all the way around.
