Here is how TDA handles automatic reinvestment:

Dividend Reinvestment is an automatic reinvestment of shareholder dividends into additional shares and fractional shares of the company's stock. It is a service available free of charge for eligible securities. Eligible securities include many common stocks, and some preferred stocks and closed-end funds that pay regular dividends. In order to be eligible for dividend reinvestment, TD AMERITRADE must receive your request prior to the record date set for payment of the dividend on a particular security. Reinvested shares are typically posted to your account 3-5 business days following receiving funds for the dividend.

The dividend reinvestment program enables dividends to be reinvested into whole and fractional shares of the company's stock. To view fractional shares, go to the 'Portfolio & Accounts' tab and select either 'Balances and Positions' or 'History and Statements'. To sell fractional shares, choose to sell all whole shares and the fractional shares will automatically be liquidated.

To request changes to your reinvestment enrollment or inquire about DRIP eligibility on a certain position, you may respond to this email or contact our Corporate Actions/Dividends team Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET (excluding market holidays).

Sincerely,

Derek Whitehill

The fractional share proceeds usually show up a couple of days after the whole shares are sold.
