That's a "No!" <new zealand is independent, but is it free? > It's free in the sense that Hong Kong is not, but individuals are not free in the sense that Hong Kongese are, whereas individuals are free in the way that Hong Konger aren't.

It's all how you look at it. What you want. Who you are.

New South Wales, our early government, is not going to recall New Zealand. The UK, previously known as Great Britain, now has no recall power. Queen Elizabeth II remains our sovereign, though she does not report to the British government. We have been evicted! We are on our own. Such freedom is not all it's cracked up to be but depending on the the situation, can be a lot better than the alternative.

Look at Arun's comments for example. India is free from Great Britain but individuals do not enjoy any consequence and suffer the result. I bet many Indians would swap their terrible situations for being British Subjects, free to roam the countries of what were in the British Empire, living and working where their opportunities would be greater. Perhaps Arun likes having hundreds of millions of impoverished people at his beck and call. Stuck in serfitude.

Swarms of people are wanting to bust into Britain. I wonder how many are wanting to bust into China. I could go and live in Hong Kong according to your information, but for some reason, sitting right here is by far my preference though I could supposedly enjoy the "freedom" you espouse.
