China: govt policy is to shut down small mining operators and let large/safe operators take over and continue to be safe. I.e. My principal is the largest coal mine in the world, n very safe.

USA: govt policy is to destroy middle class.

Observation: time is required before policy works to the full and china/usa policies are both working.

China coal mining accidents per ton mined has been trending down, dramatically, and

USA middle class is being destroyed, also dramatically.

Note: HK enables safe/large mine operators to engage with more capital, and HK honestly peg to usd, but tries to temper temperature of money gush.

In our way, we of HK are doing god's work, as well as being supportive of the USA govt work, even as we try to show the world what true freedom is, and what genuine liberty entails.

The backstop to HK freedom, and the guardian to Kowloon liberty is our ability to exit hong kong and depart Kowloon without having to suffer govt insult and last taking our our asset. You and I are already agreed that you have no such backstop to freedom, n no such guardian to liberty.

Speaking of mining accidents, there are right now 29 miners stuck in a coal mine in New Zealand after an explosion. I suppose they are all dead. en.wikipedia.org

I'm well aware of the need to avoid more people going in to die but the people in charge seem to be unduly careful.

It seems that one or two people could go in with lights, breathing equipment and maybe some spare breathing gear in case they find anyone alive and perhaps with some protective clothing to reduce damage from unfortunate events.

The chance of another explosion seems low. Perhaps the mining experts know best, but TSA airport screening is clueless as are most government efforts. They are screening pilots! They seem not to know that pilots are in charge of the steering wheel and are armed in the cockpit, with at least a cockpit axe if not actual guns. They have the local Bobby in charge of the mine so it seems likely they are not doing very well.

A father of one of the miners is very unimpressed by how hopeless they seem. I would feel like him.
