Once again, the simple fact is the amount of tax paid as a % of AGI......and don't start adding fica, estate, etc. We are talking about annual income taxes....it was you wailing about the marginal tax rate going to 39.6% and I'm maintaining that you rich guys don't pay anywhere close to that.... Cap gains tax is even lower than the %of AGI I showed... AMT is designed to require those who would pay no taxes pay a minimum amount...
So I still don't understand why the hue and cry over marginal tax rates for the wealthy....they never pay it.
