Dear John, Thanks for your post. I talked to Datek today, they said I'm not in any danger yet. I hope things will pick up, its like a crap game isnt it??? All the "analysts" say that Nov, Dec and Jan are strong. So I will hold on, nervously. (I used to be a wild one and now my life is tame so this wildness satisfies something emotional in a way, dont feel too sorry for me). I dont want to lose money though, that isnt the point of being in this "game". When these come back I probably will sell enough to get out of margin and then only use margin for very short bursts of time, two-five day trading, rather than for long term holds as I was intending to do with those 200 shares of Dell.
Advice is confusing though: some say "buy a stock that is going up dont worry if its at its high". Well I did that with the last 200 shares of Dell and it was a mistake this time! It would have been wiser to heed the "market indicators" that we were about to have a correction and assume that everything would be in the correction, no matter how strong.
I sold coms at about 52, for a nice gain. I dont think I'd be in the networking area again except if I had money to buy when they are really bad (like coms now at 36) and then sell when they go back up , and sell quickly!
Thanks again.
Good luck to you and all.
Go Dell, get moving!up that is.
