I can remember that day like it was yesterday. I was in the surveying lab, working out a surveying problem. A classmate who also happened to be a fraternity brother came. He was the sort who would come in and say "I heard your grandmother just died" just to rile you up. When he said "Kennedy just got shot," we told him to go to hell. Later we found out it was true, and drove the streets more or less aimlessly trying to cope with it. We got a free newspaper from the newspaper office with the big red headlines. The response for some people was to call for a ban on cheap imported military surplus rifles, which Oswald used to commit this atrocity. These kinds of people are still using this logic to infringe on the freedoms protected by our Bill of Rights.
