Good point Gary.
Moreover,from my personal experience,you have to excercise your
option after 4 years (either sell it or buy your vested option)
or else it will expire.
In this case,they just sell the portion of their stock option which
will soon be expiring.
Example,Mr.X has 20000 share of ASND in his stock option ,priced at
$2 /share.After working for Ascend for 4 years,all his stock option are fully vested.He needs to excercise 1/4 of that option or else
that 1/4 (5000 shares option) of his stock option will expire .
Most if not all the tech. companies have this rule (speaking from
my experience ).
