As a young lad my best friend and i "cleaned up," collecting wine bottles from along the shore line and under old boat houses on the ice in winter selling them to the local hardware store for 2 cents apiece.

They would decant turpentine to them from the barrel, to sell. The excess wine bottles were the results of the residential schools, the contamination of a large river system with mercury, prohibiting fishing, also screwing up the guiding opportunities at the fly in fishing resorts eventually closing them down, resulting in not much work,no roll models and so despair, and alcoholism for many.

Not much has changed in our far north and corruption is rampant, some chiefs behaving like New York banksters wanting everything for themselves and immediate family...the rest survive on chips and pop, no jobs,no roll models, satellite porn, alcoholism, gas sniffing, drugs, some escaping to the mean streets of the city for more of the same...gangs...alcohol, drug addiction in families is devastateing and very difficult as a young person to escape .. and the circle continues...a subject i am familiar with.
