You fail to mention that Lindzen is viewed by others in the community as a contrarian, even a maverick, who rather enjoys dissent for its own sake. I am impressed with how fractious the whole "global warming, real phenomenon or neo-crypto-Stalinist twaddle?" has become. Both camps can produce weird and counterintuitive Learned Discourse. But I get a stronger, more frequent flashback to the way I felt reading Tobacco Institute tripe when I encounter contrarian arguments. That flashback feeling? Deja Snu.
