Most of the dire consequences of such a filing outlined in the article did not occur.

Of course they didn't...duh! The filing took place under entirely different terms.

However, sales did drop over 40% well BEFORE the filing.

That should tell you volumes...the customer base flees even at the hint of standard bankruptcy. Who wants a car that may be difficult to service or can't be re-sold, and built by a company that can't get credit.

Of course, the government's involvement was largely to protect the status quo on the labor agreements. The unions received special treatment they wouldn't have received under a normal chapter 11 filing. And of course that is what will ultimately take the company down, in my opinion.

Inevitably reasoned argument gives way to non sense with folks like you.
