Judy,
You are right about the increasing importance of CDMA in offering cheap wireless global communications. My only concern is the new
emerging standard called "wideband CDMA" which is being agressively
adopted/promoted by NTT DoCoMo, Lucent, Motorolla, LGIC, etc.
Wideband CDMA does not have any royalty obligation to QCOM. Although
the ~50m in annual royalty revenue is only 7% of total revenue, i
think it contributes to the majority of the 38m pre-tax net income.
