That decision may not be as clear-cut as you believe; and remember that medical diagnosis and associated prognosis is not 100% accurate. Kavorkian, D.O,. is a prime example of assisted suicides for misdiagnosed conditions. ctlibrary.com

Two additional points – 1) it may be unfair to place your son in such a position considering an autopsy may fail to confirm his belief and 2) unless he is a physician, how will his decision be made? Will it be advice from others, clairvoyance, I Ching??? Not an easy position for any sensitive man.

Honestly most physicians are incompetent to make such decisions under any but the most obvious conditions. Let me ask you, know any folks who have been misdiagnosed or suffered iatrogenic injury due to medical incompetence? The ice may be thicker than you think. :0)
