>>> No Dan, removing IE icon won't do it. But what it WILL do is set a precedence, allowing PC
makers to tinker with Windows. Where will it end? (though I think likening it to UNIX is
streching)

Normally, I would be one to say that any company should be able to retain absolute control over the "experience" of their products, for various reasons. However, in the case of MSFT, we are dealing with a monopoly. If a MSFT customer does not like how it is bundled, they usually do not have the choice to go with another company. Several issues such as the fact that the software they want only runs on MSFT OSes keep them from being able to make any other choice. Moreover, it is ridiculous to argue (as MSFT does) that it is in the customers' interest that they make the decision of making no exceptions to the "common experience". If it is truly in the customers' interest, why don't they let the computer vendors make their own decisions? If it is truly in the customers' interest, then all the vendors will end up making the same decision as they are today. As it is, MSFT simply insults the intelligence of computer vendors and end users alike.
