RE: Borders is considered the master at adjusting their book inventories to what people want Right. But those wants are largely driven by press hype. Java is touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Evrybody wants to be in on the Java revolution. Hence, the hype feeds itself. However, selling books and some low cost dev tools does not translate into success. I am involved in a major enterprise application development effort. We just can not use Java. It is still missing critical components that are provided by even the most rudimentary lanuages. Most users of Java re still in the discovbery stage. There is not much Java revenue out there (relatively speaking). I believe that the press' infatuation with Java is dying down. Two uears ago, internet and Java companies were wildly over valued. Today, that hype has come down to earth. Hence my position that having a strong Java tool is not primarily responsible for BORL's upward momentum. It is the sum total of their products. And I believe the enterprise tools are what is really giving them value. When they have enterprise ready Java, Delphi, and C++ Builder, BORL will be untouchable.
