I used to want rounds to end on the 3rd Friday. Now I think the 4th Friday is better, to allow more earnings reports to be out, and for those stocks to react. Only a few April-reporting companies will report by April 15 before the market opens. With one more week, to 4/21 (markets are closed 4/22), many more companies will have reported. Earnings announcements and conference calls seem to be lightest on Friday, and heaviest on Tuesday and Thursday. And lightest the third month of a quarter, heaviest the first, and pretty heavy the second. So I prefer 4 months, I prefer changing the name of the thread to Picks of the third <jk>. Our rounds would end April, August, and December. So I choose April 21 (a Thursday because the markets are closed on Good Friday 4/22). I would like trading on Tuesday and Thursday, plus the Friday start of the round. Late entrants could not buy the following Monday, but would have to wait at least until Tuesday. In months when there is a Monday holiday, Tuesday and Thursday work well.

Elroy: I am in for the next round. I think ending on April 15 would be appropriate since it is also tax filing time. As for which day or days of the week, makes no difference to me. Thanks again for doing all the heavy work for the contest. Peter

I'll try my hand again in the upcoming contest; ending 4/15 makes sense to me and limiting trading to Friday seems reasonable as well.

"So lets have a vote. End date 3/18/11, 4/15/11 or 5/20/11? If you care, post your preference over the weekend and we'll take the preferred date on Monday." 1st choice 4/15, tax day... 3 per year 2nd choice 3/18, every quarter Trading... I'm fine if you eliminate it or have one per month so it is more about picking stocks. Otherwise, whatever works best for you (Friday) then add my vote for that.
