David Miller, I aggree that BORL does need to have a different business model inthe enterprise. Certainly anybody who purchases a product with an entry price of $45K will have different expectations that the $99 compiler customer. An over looked side to this is the whole new services business BORL will get. A $45K Delphi Enterprise sale should open the door for 2-10 times that much or more in profesional services (i.e. consulting, support, training, etc.).

I do not see the risk as that substantial. They risk the high-end if they do get a strong support team in place. But the low-end enterprise and PC tools alone is a compelling business for BORL (albeit some what limiting). But, I think that the recent success of BORL suggests that they know what they are doing.

BTW: All the buyout talk has centered around Oracle, how about Sun, HP, or IBM. Suddenly, Borland fits nicely into any of these companies' high end services business.
