But Bernie Madoff didn't have much in the way of a Gross National Product attributable to him nor a wealth of natural resources and inventiveness of a talented and ambitious populace that he could rely on.... <g> Just lots of hot air, snake oil, and a multitude of gullible greedy people (mixed in with a fair proportion of 'folks-in-the-know' perfectly willing to delve into outright Fraud.)
