1) It's a question of speed. But yes, it doesn't completely replace the need for removable storage in cameras.

2) When going between home and work, I'd love to put essentially
my entire computer in my pocket. Or, even better, when I'm travelling on a flight and don't want to carry a notebook computer. Certainly this doesn't make it easier to share some files between two people. But a certain percentage of the zip-using populace uses the zip to transfer files, and this eats into that percentage. More and more innovations like this, and the zip can die the death of a thousand cuts.
