Ben: I regularly avoid buying upgrades, and I agree it's a losing strategy. This struck me as different, though. First, the upgrade came late in the day, rather than the open, and the market reacted violently to it. And why upgrade today? Ugly day for the market and tech specifically. Traders and investors AREN'T listening. If an investment house tried to upgrade YHOO, for example, right now, not only would the stock NOT REACT, but people would laugh. If AB had a large position in YURI they've had plenty of time to unload; the stock peaked a month ago. Their traders couldn't get out at $40? or $35? 0r even $30? And I may blow mine out at the open tommorrow---but I'd rather be long than short tonight.
