Italian writer Ennio Montesi wants Sweden to take him in because he can't stand all the crucifixes in his own country. Montesi, an atheist who has had himself "debaptized," earlier got his name in the news by crusading against the cross on display in a hospital ward. He whines to Swedish Premier Fredrik Reinfeldt that living in Italy forces upon him "a religious and political symbol of death." It is unclear whether Montesi suffers from the classic symptoms of crucifix intolerance: uncontrollable fits, facial blistering, levitating, pea soup vomiting, twisting the head around 360°, et cetera. Maybe Montesi should seek asylum in the USA. If he's turned down, he can just walk across the border from Mexico. No doubt a fulfilling career would await him with the ACLU.
