In many respects, the slow steady rise with falling vix, obscene P/Cs, excessive optimism, and deteriorating breadth looks similar to the one leading to April top. It just smells like bs.

I am mostly done for the year. Trimmed risky positions (Vietnam, Russia, metals, oil), keeping some indexes (VTI), and trying to make it pretty bought faz - which makes me slightly net short.

If faz is stopped out, I'll consider buying some puts in January.

The danger is to miss the rally, but it's OK. There will be much better buying opportunities in 2011. IMO it makes sense to get defensive here.
