The reasons are many, but it all comes down to the symbiotic relationship between the politicians and the bankers. It's literally us against them, but they hold the weapons of mass destruction and they have written the laws to protect themselves.

Until taxpayers resound to act, en mass, to the point of withdrawing all of their holdings from the banks, buying precious metals, closing their wallets HARD, and bartering among themselves without any involvement from the banks, the blood-letting and pain will grow.

People are still largely complacent and pacified, so I imagine the chaos will continue to worsen, unchecked, for quite some time.

When Wal-mart runs out of food, cable tv service goes down, and the package liquor stores run out of booze, the SWHTF.
