I was being glib.

Conservatives hate to think of us evolving from monkeys. We did evolve from something swinging in the trees-lol. That is why we have our eyes in the front of our head so we can triangulate and determine depth and the distance to the next branch-lol.

The big surprise recently is that we stood up before we left the forest. That was a huge surprise. They are guessing we stood upright so the males could bring food back to the female and her babies through a thick forest.

In return she gave the male sex. What the scientists said-lol.

The really big change came when Africa started drying out 5/6 million years ago and large heards of animals evolved.

We startrd roaming the edges of the savanna looking for lion kills. We could then eat the meat and break the bones for marrow.

The extra calories and protein allowed up to grow to 6 feet and double our brain and lose our bellies. So we went from about 450 cc's to 900 cc's (homo erectus). Present man's brain is about 1350 to 1500 cc's.

Neandertal was 1500 to 1800 cc's and recent DNA shows us we are about 4% Neandertal.

<<"We know humans evoloved from "monkeys". We know that."

Scientists do not 'believe' humans evolved from monkeys, even die hard evolution theorists do not believe that statement to be true. In animal taxonomy humans are usually classified in the same order of old world primates but no biologist believes humans descended from monkeys. >>
