Cymer buyers are few right now so the price is dropping. However, those in the brokerage business are extremely busy just selling many more options than usual in all stocks. Stocks aren't selling, but option paper is furiously selling. Options to buy by some and options to sell by others at some price and future date.

A good part of these people are fund managers. They have sold stocks recently and have locked in some performance numbers for the year. Maybe they are uncertain about the Asian monetary problems, etc, chip market, etc. They don't understand the fundamentals of Cymer or many other tech stocks, and there are rumors. So now they are buying options.

The existance of all these options must at some point may cause the the buying and selling of these stocks to resume probably in a steep trajectory.

Question to those who follow option trading contracts: Is the quantity of options being bought likely to cause an explosive jet upward or down?

I hope upward, correcting what I think is an overreaction to Asian fears.

I did not rewrite his reply. I copied exactly what he said and pasted it into my post. So therefore it is all his quote and no permission by me applies.
