Actually IMO character issues had nothing to do with keeping Pete Rose out of the HOF. He is kept out because he broke the rules against gambling. Pure and simple.

Also IMO there are way too many mediocre borderline players already in the HOF.

If you buy that premise, we should look for reasons to keep players out of the HOF.
