All those Dixiecrats are now Republicans, having jumped to the party that took up racism as a cause. The (R)'s have flogged racism through Willie Horton, until just recently, when they realized that if they didn't have SOME brown people, they wouldn't have a future! They STILL harbor a lot of racists - look at Micheal Steele's problems after winning a historic victory for them.

Just to be clear, I am not a Republican nor at all that much of a Republican defender. I am part Libertarian, part anarchist (with a very small "a"), ...

To the rest of your post, I think you are making generalizations once again. I don't see "conservative" Democrats and "conservative" Republicans as the same thing, though they had been somewhat aligned at the time in question.
