Jefferson was a very religious man, attending church regularly into his retirement. That he had unorthodox unitarian doctrinal beliefs doesn't make him non-religious. Newton was another very religious man .... writing, "I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily." He spent more time studying the Bible than science and predicted the end of the world in 2060 based on his understanding of bibilical prophecies.
